I have a 4wk old polish chick and she has developed a case of wry neck. I got the selenium, administered it 2x yesterday and 1x this morning. I’ve been dripping her water from a syringe with poultry cell mixed in. She gets random spirts of energy and will try to eat her food like normal, but then gets very lethargic.

I don’t want her to suffer but I also don’t want all my efforts to help to be in vane.

It’s only been 2 days so far but I feel so bad because she won’t eat 😩

Head to the drug store and get:
- needle-less syringe (smallest possible)
- pill splitter and crusher
- B-complex TABLETS (make sure it has B1/Thiamine)
- 400 IU Vitamin E softgels

Split the B-complex tablet into quarters and crush 1 (save the other 3 pieces for her next treatments). Poke a hole in the Vitamin E and squirt out the contents into the B-complex powder. Add a tiny amount of warm water, just enough to get everything incorporated. Suck that into the syringe. Find a way to secure the bird (I sit on the floor and gently hold between my legs). Get the TINIEST drop out from the syringe and smear it on the side of her mouth, along the crack of her beak. It will work its way in naturally and she'll swallow. Repeat with as much as she'll tolerate. Treat her daily.

Another option is to get some baby bird powder (like Kaytee Exact, which I've seen in-store at Petco), mix according to package directions, then mix the 1/4 B-Complex and Vitamin E into her feedings.

Best of luck with her. I've been dealing with a lot of neurological issues this year with my chicks, and this is how I've been handling it (thanks to the advice of other BYC members!) Results can take time.
