Somehow they seem to know. I got a dozen colored EE hatching eggs. Out of those one pullet laid green eggs. Only one. Great hen, laid a lot of fairly large mint green eggs and even went broody and raised chicks. She was killed in a dog attack.it shouldn't be this hard![]()
I'm just hoping it's not a green layer. Granted at least then her daughters might lay blue, but if she lays blue, I can breed her to my cream carrying male and should get blues and maybe greens@Vratnyjulez congratulations. Beautiful color.

I got a bunch of designer eggs, Ameraucana from a breeder. The pullets I kept did not lay until they were 9 months old. The breeder did not understand that, her pullets typically lay at 5 or 6 months. These hens' daughters usually lay at 5 to 6 months, like they were supposed to. But those first three!!! It doesn't have to be this hard, but sometimes it is. Just hang in there.
I’m very happy with her color, thought they would be mint green but they are light blue!!!!That is a beautiful blue!
