Hi. I purchased two Easter egger hens couple days ago but they don’t look like other Easter egger that I have seen online.

They are almost a year old. Owner said they don’t lay anymore but did one time.

What are they? Thank you

Wow! They are gorgeous. They don't quite match Polish, Houdans, or Crevecoeurs. I am stumped. They look so familiar, yet not. They are definitely not a normal hatchery EE. Very pretty splash birds you have there.

@Overo Mare @TheOddOneOut Come see! Aren't they a complete steal??

They look like polish splash Easter egger, which Ive never seen or heard of. I have a splash Easter egger or olive egger that lays green eggs but she doesn’t have the head feathers like that. I love mixed breed chickens They always look so cool And I love trying to guess what breeds they are mixed with. BB239715-B695-4C1A-ADD8-1872F6129355.png

I think they are part of a breeding project. Splash breeds true so they got really close. The shank and skin color match blue. Nice clean legs too. The comb type might be something to improve on, but the overall quality of the birds looks nice (to me at least). Houdans and Crevecoeurs don't come in this color, which makes me think this is some sort of private breeding project. Maybe these are some of the culls. Not sure honestly, but they are really beautiful. And it is obvious they have been worked on.

@RoostersAreAwesome What are your ideas?

They are beautiful birds! You'll only know for sure is when they start laying. They certainly look either Polish/Houdan and maybe Ameraucana?
