I have 2 EE's and I was told they were female but I have been told they were roo's. I noticed one of them developing a beard. Do roosters have the beard? (s)he will be 8 weeks on Tuesday 5/8/2012. Does anyone have pictures of their EE's at 8 weeks that I could see for comparison?

Yes, if they have the genes for muffs/beard, then both male and female with have them. That is a beautiful bird, do you have a picture of it from the side?

This is the best one I have right now. It was taken tonight.

I believe it is a cockeral. The comb is quite large and red, plus the darker red patches coming in on the wings, plus the overall mottled pattern are the reasons for my guess. That is a gorgeous bird, I'm jealous!

It's a boy. Females don't develop those bright red splotches on their wings. It's part of how roos impress ladies (think linebacker shoulders in human men).

that one is a cockerel all the way and most ee's will have a beard although they do come beardless as well
