My ladies have just started laying 2 weeks ago. I have 3 RIRs, 2 black sex-links, and 4 EEers (Ameraucana, Araucana, who knows, they're from the feed store).
Sunday I found a blue egg. Then I didn't find another blue egg all week. I kept them in Thursday and Friday to make sure maybe they weren't laying in the woods (they get to range a few hours a day, usually). Still no blue eggs. But I've gotten four "pink" eggs that don't look like the ones that I'm guessing came from the RIRs.
Can a chicken that lays a blue egg just up and lay a pink one? Or is that hen just not laying regularly yet? (They JUST started laying 2 weeks ago.) Maybe I have 3 pink-egg-layers and 1 blue-egg-layer.
Thanks!
