Easter eggers flock ratio

How many hens does a Easter eggers rooster need? He has 5 that he is just tearing up. I have saddles on all of the hens. My SF rooster is happy with his three and doesn't over mate them. My Japanese bantam rooster has 4 and treats them well. My OEG bantam rooster just hads one with no problem. Boecephus EE is always after one girl or another all day. He is a fabulous protector so moving him away from the girls is really not a option. Looking for more adult hens but how many?

I usually try to keep my hens to rooster ratio 10:1. Some need more, some need less but it gives me a place to start.

EEs seam to not have great feathers on their Backs for Roosters mating...Only Breed I have had with bald backs from mating...I got rid of them all, have Orpington and Orpington/Brahma Hens now...

10:1 is a good rule of thumb. However, that isn't always possible. So I would say 5-6 MINIMUM. Best wishes!

I like the breed. Love the different color hens and eggs . Boecephus is a great, gentle rooster who needs more ladies to keep him distracted. So I'll find him some more girls... People at work are paying $6 a dozen for eggs right now so I'm in a win win situation for the time being.
