Main rooster letting his son mate all his hens

I hatched all our chickens so have my fair share of roosters. The sons definitely (though raised together and get along with each other) did try to oust their dad and were not super gentle with the hens either. I don’t have the heart for culling and so we now have a separate bachelor flock that free ranges and are happy doing their thing…which mostly involves sitting on the patio against the glass door and watching us inside.

I thought the old dominant rooster would keep his hens safe and teach his son manners, but he's letting him mate all his hens in front of his face, all the time. Seriously, he just look at him go, and appreciate the sight!
Is this normal? The old rooster is still 100% dominant.
I have one rooster like this; he runs his flock with his brother. He is absolutely in charge, there's no doubt about it with all the other interactions, although the two will happily sit together and preen each other. The alpha roo just has little/no reaction to seeing another rooster mating right in front of him, whether it's his brother, sons, or a totally different flock doing things. At most, if it's one of his favorite hens, he will saunter over and see if she's still in the mood. With young cockerels starting to behave inappropriately, he gets really confused and runs to the screaming hen but then seems to get stuck and do nothing. But, if the brother comes in and pushes or drags the cockerel away, alpha roo will immediately bop the brother if the cockerel screams about it... 🤷‍♀️ So I now try to separate cockerels before it gets to that point. Meanwhile, this weird alpha boy is also the only rooster I have who will always and immediately go into insane fight mode with any predators or other threats, whether it's a hawk trying to break into the enclosure or a certain pair of fuzzy pink pants I made the mistake of wearing in there once.

In contrast, one of my other roos gets really upset if he catches a glimpse of anyone doing the deed in any form.
