Not a dumb question.
Easter Eggers can
not lay any color of egg, and a hen carrying one or both blue egg genes can not lay a solid brown or white egg. . . It will have a hint of green or blue shade to it, even if it is hardly there. An Easter Egger must lay a blue, green, or green/blue tinted egg. (even olive and khaki fit in there)
The term Easter Egger it self is referred to a chicken that has the blue egg gene, however does not fit all the requirements for being an Ameraucana or Araucana. In most cases it also refers to the hatchery-based birds, which
can lay a non-green or blue egg in rare cases, but shouldn't lay a white or dark brown egg. Such hatchery based Easter Eggers usually have yellow or green legs, beard/muffs, and duckwing, wheaten, or white related coloring.
Outside the original hatchery based EE stock, Easter Eggers are usually mutts with parents who laid a green or blue egg.
Do you have other blue or green eggs to compare yours with? Or white eggs? They may just be a really pale blue. . . I have an Easter Egger with eggs like that.
