I have 2 Red Stars and 2 Easter Eggers. They are all about 2 years old. The Red Stars are producing eggs every day. My Easter Eggers have stopped producing. No eggs for the past week. All 4 chickens get exactly the same diet. Any ideas about what could be the problem with the Easter Eggers?

We really appreciate the help. We don't want to lose our girls...

Mine are molting this time of year and won't lay until it's over.

Thank you for your reply. I was not aware (newbie) that chickens could stop laying while molting. They have started molting. That is probably the reason. Glad that I do not need to worry about this.
The may not lay until the days get longer again.....could be well after the molt is complete.

Some chickens just take the winter off. Sometimes it's an individual thing, sometimes it's a breed thing.

One time I had four chickens: two of one breed laid all winter for every winter I had them, two of a different breed took the whole winter off each year.

I am baffled this year. At least 4 of my 9 Wyandottes appear to be molting. I didn't notice except for some lack of tail feathers. I figured it out, because over the year their blue feathers turned gray & now I see ones that have bluer feathers mixed in, so they must be molting. The curious thing is I have been getting 6-7 eggs daily & the other day I got 9. I even added chicks in a brooder to the coop 4 weeks ago & they didn't slow down. Still waiting for a full stop, LOL.
