i am so so sorry about the non feathered hen , i thought i culled all that didnt have feathers... my main stock (parrents of birds i sell all have feathered legs but every 20 or so chicks comes out clean leg and it sliped threw the radar on me.. my eyes are gettin bad i will gladly replace the hen and you just keep the hen
with no leg feathers, what ever you like because you were verry nice at the swap my only trouble is i dont have one now for about a month and a half for my next hatch .....
i cant remember if it was the young 9 week old wheaten marans birds ? i normaly rehome the non feathered birds and or make aware the buyer .the genetic reason behind me getting 4 out of 50 hatches , 4 are clean the rest are all nicely feathered legs . its interesting how all the breeder birds in my flock have feathers but throw a clean
every 20 or so ,lol lol ,,,,, the reason i ask about the age of the bird is because the younger 9 week olds were raised in a general population by a silkie mom and the first time the chick was ever handeled by a human was 5:30 am lol and i closed the bar that night not drinking a drop but was there and couldnt fall asleep because i was so excited
about the show ,, your post sounde like your are totaly happy and all but i want to sell the proposed standard of the breed and color wheaten marans and that is lightly feathered legs .. we will get you another soon as we can turn them out .i do have a broody wheaten hen sitting on 3 eggs due to hatch any time now and mabe i will get another hen or so wee will keep in touch and you do have my phone number ? i hope ? I wish this thread was in the marans section because there's a genetic guru in Australia who could help answer the reason I'd get a clean legged bird. But I'm pretty sure she still carries the genetic code for feathered legs and a large amount of her offspring would have feathered legs. But blackdot would better answer this stuff. Thanks, keep in touch.

We got one of your roos to go with our hen and I am very excited about having a small special flock with dark eggs for the household.
I just wanted to thank you for him. I noticed the hen doesn't have feathers on her leg but the roo does. They are both young birds, so will she get hers later on? I noticed you were very busy and I would have liked to ask you some more questions but I am interested in getting some more of your pullets at the next swap. What is the differences between the copper, wheaten and cuckoo marans? I don't know much about them but I am interested in the dark eggs and I like their coloring.
Also, thank you to the nice lady from whom we got fifteen Welsummer pullets. And I think it was Erin from whom we got the two pairs of Welsummers. I wish I could have stayed longer but we had lots of other things to do. I hope you can pull off one for this fall when I won't be as busy and can stay longer.
Thanks again
