easy way to keep em off the waterer

If you have troubles with your chooks sitting on top of your waterer and pooping down the sides, into the water, then try this: get a big funnel from the dollar store or auto supply store and tie it on to the top - think of it as a big pokey hat. works like a charm!

Now if I could only figure out how to keep the heated dog bowl I use in the winter clean and free of debris!

The funnel is a wonderful idea. As for the bowl, try putting it on top of a concrete block, that will raise it up enough to keep most of the bedding, etc, out of it. I don't have the bowl, but this is what I have to do with all waterers I put inside the coop.
