eating and drinking

my 2 day old baby chicks seem to be up and moving around. currently i dip their beaks in their water quite often and tap their food however i dont think they are drinking or eating that often what should i do to encourage them to do so?

there are two things that could be going on. one: your chicks are eating and you don't see it, baby chicks don't really eat a lot because they are so small. two: they actually aren't eating. if they aren't eating a good way to get them to eat is to put bright colored chopped fruits/vegetables in their food. also try letting them eat out of your hand. hoping for the best! keep us updated!

If you are not seeing a noticeable drop in water level from the container, continue to dip their beaks into the water, but also put something shiny into the water. They like to peck at shiny things.

try putting some glittery marbles (too big for them to swallow but big enough for them to notice) in the water, it will catch their attention and they will peck at it.
