Eating chickens is bad for kids

Sorry that's got to be the biggest load of C. R. A. P. that I've ever heard. Until the last few decades everybody ate off the bone. The things some people think up to research. Man.

i agree, a load of crap! my 15 yr old twin girls have been eating chicken off the bone at least once a week and are the complete opposite of aggressive and disrespectful!

"Eating chickens is bad for kids" is not even what the study is claiming. They say eating something like a drumstick or corn on the cob which involves holding the food and biting off bits makes a kid more assertive and willful, whereas cut up chicken or kernels of corn won't have that effect. Even in the linked blurb it's made pretty clear they aren't saying chicken flesh is 'bad' for kids.

Whether or not the study really carries any weight is another matter. I'd look at it perhaps as kids who are capable of handling whole foods themselves (and are treated as being as capable of small tasks as the adults around them) are more confident or advanced then kids who are coddled and still have mom hovering over them dicing their food up into tiny bites, if anything.

I mean, maybe my daughter is only bossy with other toddlers because she loves drumsticks, but I'm really doubting that.

It's not just chicken. It's any food that a child has to hold and bite. From the article . . .

So, that means no corn on the cob, apples, no sandwiches of any type, no burgers, hotdogs, ice cream on a stick or cone, peaches, bananas, etc.

What a load!! Wonder how many poor children they could have fed with the money they used on this study?

There, I feel so much better now! I rarely believe "studies" of any kind, because the results are often skewed by where the money for the "studies" is coming from. You can find anything you want to support whatever you want to believe on the internet.

"Research" like this makes me cry for humanity. How about "crappy parenting is bad for kids"?
That's exactly what I was thinking! Crappy parenting is far more responsible for aggressive, disobedient kids. On a local rummage sale Facebook site, the mother of an elementary school student has posted that the kid's teacher is picking on her little darling, ending the post with, "No one should discipline my child but me!" This kid has run around town on his own since kindergarten (and is not much older than that now). If the mother was disciplining the child in the first place, the teacher wouldn't have to! Maybe she fed the child drumsticks as a toddler....

That study is flawed. People have been eating chicken forever. There are always going to be a certain amount of mean aggressive , people and its not from eating chicken. Its in their dna.
