Eating duck eggs

My understanding is that there isn’t any difference in a fertilized egg vs unfertilized egg unless you were taking said fertilized egg out from under the brooding mama (where she’s actively sitting on the clutch of eggs). Their being fertilized doesnt initially ‘matter’ (in the matter of consumption) because the duck will lay her desired amount of eggs (10-15 from my understanding) and then lay on them to start the incubation stage. Until they’ve begun incubating (being kept warm consistently) they’re just like any other egg.

Now, I’m by no means an expert and I don’t think I’ve yet proven myself to duck forum as a reliable source of info (I’m a newbie)... so basically I would not take my words as gospel/face value.

Some of the duck gurus will likely come along and give their position. And I would totally trust what they’ve got to say on the matter ❤️

And I don’t think it’s weird or dumb. Look at it this way; you don’t want to eat a poor defenseless baby duckling! Further, props to you for eating your duckydoodles’ eggs! I’ve tried a couple times to cook/eat/like them but sadly... they’re just not for me. I will say that the yolks’ consistency is far richer/creamier than chickens’ eggs.

So good for you! ❤️

If the taste bothers you, you can use a seasoning called Soul Seasoning. It only takes a small pinch. I eat my duck eggs and use them in baking and cooking all the time. Yolks are thicker and whites are fluffier.
I fried some this morning and I think they taste great and the yolks seemed thicker.
