I have read several other posts about hens that wont eat and could not find the same scenario I am going through. I have a hen that has little interest in food. She seems to peck around at her food and consumes a little, but something has changed. About 2 weeks ago I noticed she seemed broody. She pulled off all her feathers on her belly. I only had to kick her out of the box a few times though and she really didn't seem all that interested in staying in there. She stopped laying within a day or two. Also her poop got really watery and I smelled really bad for a few days then just the watery. I tried to feel for an impacted egg and don't feel anything (although I am not sure what a normal chicken tummy feel like). I did the warm bath and tums thing for a few days and dewormed her. No real improvement. She free ranges with the other girls but always lags behind. I tried giving her yogurt and scrambled eggs and she would not touch either. I soaked bread in ACV and water and she ate some, and she ate some lettuce but just a little of each. Her comb and waddle vary greatly in color depending on what she is doing. She does this thing too where she will just stand with her neck all tucked in and her eyes shut. She also goes into roost by herself way early now. She is starting to look a little gaunt and she used to be so friendly with me - now she runs away and looks terrified of me. I suspect cocci but my birds had that last years when I rescued them and they didn't loose their appetite like this. And wouldn't they all have it?
