I have around 100 outdoor layers in a variety of sheds and coops, all birds will eat broken eggs and many will eat whole eggs left outside. The idea is to
1.have the laying area out of the light, eg by putting a board over the area and
2.keeping the egg out of plain site eg by using a deep nest box.
