Is it possible for 3 week old ducklings to over eat? The past 4 days my two have become feathered hoovers. As soon as I fill their small dish they clean it out and within and hour are gripeing for more. I don't want to over feed them, as they are eating a ton I think for 2 ducklings. I have a "feeder" I would fill and put in, but Im afraid they would eat it in one sitting! What do I do??

My 3 went from what was normal (as it was just what they ate every day) to almost feathered pigs like overnight! Must be growing feathers takes lots of calories. I just fed what they'd eat and none of mine are chunky.

I will keep food in front of them 24/7 until they are much older.

ducks (like most poultry) will only eat as much as their bodies need, aka if they are eating 2scoops a day for 2 weeks while their feathers grow out and then don't need that much any more they will slow down.

remember ALL babies eat what they need when they need it, so give them a feeder, make sure it stays full all day/night every day/night they wont eat what they don't need.

Thanks everyone - I just didn't want them to over eat and something happen. I just put the feeder it

Ducks will only over eat on junk foods like bread and crackers, popcorn etc.... If it's their normal food, they will consume whatever their growing bodies need. They will each year put on fat, lose it, put on more, lose it... their weights will change depending on the season, so no worries!

Mine won't touch the stuff LOL
DH keep trying to give them a little snack of his stuff and he says "You are ducks, kids at ponds feed this to ducks and they happily eat it!"
I have ducks that won't eat junk food LOL
