eating weeds??? help please????

i have about 8 barred rock roosters that are picking up long pieces of thin straw and trying to eat them. then they get caught and they cant down the rest. ive pulled numerouse weeds out of there mouth and they are like 10 inches long. i this natural or is this a problem that someoine has a solution to?

It must be very tough weeds... I have never had this occur with my chickens. I think it could be a problem if they choke on it, and I would remove those tall weeds or whatever it is from your pen.

the thing is though, it is just straw from a bail that i used for bedding

That's kind of the reason I don't use straw. I had a problem with that too, but I switched to grass hay in the nest boxes and pine shavings on the floors. They will eat the grass, but it's softer and they can get it down easier. They really love it in fact
