echinacea

Anyone give their chicks echinacea? I have some liquid drops I was thinking of putting in their water as a preventative.

Good question, Amy!

Skip and I take echinacea capsules but I've never thought about using it for chicks/chickens. Hopefully someone else will know more about it.

I have come across a couple studies (not on birds) where they found no difference with the control groups... I occasionally give it when I make tea for my birds (I occasionally make them up nettle and echancea tea and set out warm in the cold mornings)... as long as there is nothing else in it (like alcohol or other herbs which may not be good for them) I cant see it will do them harm.
