Edit limits in private messages

Would it be possible to increase or remove the editing time limits for PMs/conversations? I have many conversations that I often update the first post of. Making a new one or a new post in the conversation is frustrating and clusters my inbox. I don't mean to be a pain---I'm only curious if it's possible or practical.

You should be able to edit for six months. Is that not long enough?

Two years.

I think it's currently set to 6 months for PFMs and 24 hours for regular members.
