So happy I found this page with so much information....

We were given a few chickens years ago when the farmers in the area didn't spray for alfalfa worms and my driveway and all the dirt around us became infected. A friend said come get some of my chickens, they will eat up those caterpillar looking bugs! So it began.... 8 years later still only had 2 chickens.

A co worker last year told me she was ordering chicks, so I got 10 of the Easter egg layers. Then we met a silke breeder and we chose 6 of the cutest birds, and as they got older we realized they were all roosters....

About 6 months ago another friend brought us a mamma bird and 13 babies..... and lastly I ordered another 10 Silkes which I split those keeping 5.

23 chickens total..... I don't know the breeds, what i can tell you is we got the Easter Eggs layers, Silkes and I have a polish Rooster that is Amazing! So I have a very mix-up up bunch!

I never knew chickens could be so entertaining!

We live on a mini farm where the chickens rule our cats *they share the same pen property*. We have a couple of active dogs that watch the chickens constantly and we have a pot belly pig, which isn't small and he runs the place.

I am still trying to figure out what my ultimate chicken layout will look like, and I am always changing it up in their pen.

I had a question about something one of the babies were doing, and the search brought me here to BackYard Chickens.... Glad to be here to be educated!
