Alas, the cutting and clearing that I need to do is much more... surgical... in nature, clearing weeds that suddenly turned into junky saplings in the middle of the garden, taking down more of the oak branches (they were getting to only 2-3 feet off the ground at their ends). Although, to be fair, I've almost been tempted....

(In all seriousness, we've had a burn ban here for forever... Couldn't even if I wanted to.)

Wanna know what ended up working?

Vaseline. As a side benefit, my forehead is well moisturized... (I did end up cutting off a small hank of hair though). 

(I'm soooooooo tired... I broke down and ordered one of those JawSaw things, I have way too much brush to cut and clear to do it all by hand - not sure what on earth I was thinking...)
