Im going to have a busy day!!
Category 2 hurricane Otto just made landfall and is hammering Costa Rica and Nicaragua. Latest hurricane in the Caribbean ever. Strongest November hurricane ever. First hurricane to ever hit Costa Rica in history.
There will be life threatening flash flooding and mudslides.
Luckily for CR, they are on the south side of the eye so they aren't getting as strong of wind as the Nicos.
Also luckily, where it hit is sparsely populated and the swampy wetland area of both countries. There are a lot of volunteers and scientists in the area working with sea turtles and other wildlife.

ditto what you have already heard, updates??Quick question going Into lock down how high should my humidity be I have been running at 50/55% right now should I jack it up to 80/85%
i cook mine breast down, though i do recommend stuffing the bird, because the back will cook very quickly, then 30-45 min befor done flip it over and baste with butterI've not done it (or more precisely DW), but my buddy tells me that cooking them upside down makes them juicier...don't know if that's domestic or wild.
Gorgeous birds!!Happy Thanksgiving to all! I hope everyone enjoyed their day of thanks, and filled their bellies to the brim!!!
I haven't been around, in case anyone noticed, so I thought I'd drop in to say howdy. HOWDY!
I've been staying busy with my RIR's, and it seems like there's something new to do every day. Not long ago I picked up a trio of top-notch reds, so I was already thankful for that. Just today, two of my pullets decided to start laying. Yet another thing to be thankful of! I figured I'd have to induce laying with artificial lighting around the end of January so they'd be ready to start the breeding process in early February. Looks like they don't care about the days getting shorter after all... lol! As of right now, I'm only focusing on breeding the new trio, but I've brought one of the original pullets over to the trio pen because she has a better tail angle. She has a little excess black, but I'm going to use her anyway. Who knows... I might get lucky and they'll throw some beautiful chicks. Time will tell.
It's been awhile, so here's a video of my birds as they are now. The video starts in the pen with my original birds, and ends in the pen with the new trio (now a quad)...

She doesn't like it? Neither do I. My wife won't help. My coop fairy came up and helped me do 5. I have 5 or 6 more to do soon and another 8 in a couple more months.
Not completely finished yet but this is the way they show up in the market in Catalonia so people know they're getting a real black Penedesenca rooster that is worth their $50.
The black feathers, carnation comb, white earlobes and slate legs.
That's the only way to know for sure.
