EDUCATIONAL INCUBATION & HATCHING CHAT THREAD, w/ Sally Sunshine Shipped Eggs

Not to shabby. How's you?

If you take the day off work you can still make the beach in November.

I'm good... we finally got some rain yesterday and expecting more today!

Wishful thinking on the beach today!

It is hatch day (well the TJ eggs were due on Sunday but are way late again).

This morning we have about a dozen+ TJ chicks and some pips on the others.

woohooo!!!!

Anyone ever hear of a duck falling madly in love with a turkey? It seems that my young Drake, Cosmo, is in love with my two royal palm turkey hens lol. He runs out of the coop in the morning when I open the doors, runs to the turkey fence and starts hissing and washing his tail, following the girls along the fence until they fly out n (those two never stay in their pen). He always runs to greet them, just like the other ducks, with his tail wagging and head bobbing! He stays pretty close to them all day long now (with his two duck girls too of course!)
awww sounds cute!!

Hatch update:
Looks like the TJ eggs have done hatching. Over a dozen out from 3 dozen eggs set. Not too bad for old, washed and chilled eggs.

Of the second set there are 10 out - not sure yet what but some look like Swedish black hens and there is a male cream Legbar. Still some eggs to go.
Pics or it didnt happen

There was a wealthy family (Bass) in Fort Worth that owned an island between Galveston and Corpus Christi. I nominate Kaj to be in charge of negotiations for the purchase and all the BYC peeps can live there, we just have to figure out how the duck peeps get along with the chicken peeps and how they function along side the guinea peeps, I vote no cats, oops voting is out it is no longer election season...............

good morning
I'll come visit!

I have porkchops defrosted in the fridge. I am thinking about porkchops and eggs.
mmmm i made porkchops last night

Two days worth of eggs.

I really need to come down there. .... you drive me crazy! All this internal parts on a charcoal grill with my spicy pumpkin salad, nice Baugget(not for me :hit) and a bottle of cold rose wine! Mm mm
You would be more then welcome to come down and visit. I have tried the other internal parts and did not find them to my enjoyment.

Thanks
I asume it is a matter of know how, and taste

My kids have way too many electronics, but I'm a big gamer/computer geek, so it's important to me that my kids know how to use electronics. However, we definitely limit it.
...

Our TV is also not cable, it's an old computer I built, that can play games, and we use wifi to stream TV rather than pay for cable TV. ;o

I've also donated/given away laptops and old PC parts to people who couldn't afford to buy one in the past though ^.^ We always have extras laying around.

I don't think we've had a house phone in over 8 years though!!
It's the world we live in.
I've been building my own computers since the days of the xt. My basement is full of computer parts and cases.
I need to discard a bunch that are way past their prime. I thought I'd be ready for the apocalypse and could put anything together I needed.
I haven't upgraded in a long time. I have a new computer from almost 2 years ago that I haven't turned on yet because every time this one acts like it bit the dust, I fix it.

I had a laptop with Windows 2000 professional on it. It was my favorite windows OS of all time till MS quit supporting it. They updated IE at the same time and W2000 barely worked after that.

That is a great success rate. Did you check to see how old the eggs were before you set them?

Our TJs doesn't carry fertile eggs but WF does. They are too old by the time they get here though. I tried a dozen and nothing developed. They come from a farm in WI, travel to the WF distribution center in Chicago, then eventually travel to the stores here in MO.

I vote no cats too. Oops, I don't get a vote.

I had jalapeno and mango chicken sausage and a granny smith apple for breakfast.

Is the dear, cut and freazed?
Did you made a good meal from the Hurt and the liver ?
Or you are one of the Americans that don't eat them?

I eat the heart either barely sautéed or raw.

If the liver is healthy you are talking on a Organic liver, first class food!

What about the kidneys?
I love all 3.

Keep it up and you'll have me going out looking for fresh road kill.

...
But no ocean! I need the sound of the waves crashing on the shore when I'm at the beach.

Speaking of the beach, my favorite time of year to go is in November, and I never planned a November trip! Too late now!
My favorite is when no one else is there.
My canoe trips are in winter or midweek. I floated and fished 90+ miles in late November on the Current River in the Ozarks. Never saw another boat the whole 5 days.
Give me a beach away from the crowds.

It is so sad about Gatlinburg.

That is my in-laws' favorite vacation destination.
As fast as the fire moved, it's amazing more people didn't die.

We're having pork tenderloin and veggie stir fry with rice noodles tonight.

That is why I like going in November. Really November - February is great!

That fire did move so fast, I think they said 3 people have died. Terrible.
