@Sally Sunshine I was afraid of that when they suggested opening those windows. I will add those vents, though I have unseen venting under the tin at the top. There is four inches of hardware cloth making a venting gap.

Your puppies are so cute. I have the same problem with wanting to keep my kids.

@casportpony Do you just put ivermectin in their beak (horse paste)? I have a couple wit poopy buts, but no obvious worms and normal poop.
As anal as I am, I try to give an accurate dose based on weight, which is 0.02 ml per pound orally. Keep in mind that ivermectin is not very effective in treating capillary worms and cecal worms.

18% cost me $19
16% lay pellets is $15
Both 50# bags
Quote:
50# bag of 20% just cost me 16.99 each
This feed store is across the highway from TSC and significantly lower prices on feed.
TSC carries Dumor (house brand) and Purina.
Farm & Home has a few lines of Purina, a few lines of Nutrena and another from ADM. The latter two are much cheaper.

What breed is this
how many do u need
You need a side view of the bird standing. Leg color and comb type is important for identification.

I believe that's $22 for 50# for me.
Ouch. I pay that for Nature's Grown organics from our co-op.
How much are grains like scratch, corn, oats or barley?

Full body side profile, standing up, would probably be best.

Where'd you get her? Any idea if she's a mutt or a purebred?

Mutts are much harder.
X2
Mutts are impossible.

and they said she is a purebred
If they knew she was a purebred, they should have known a purebred what. Did you ask them?

ok what kind
An orpington is an orpington. That's the breed. The color is the variety.

she has mites and lice and be trying to find something for her
Didn't we have this conversation last week?

That is funny my dixie also a jack was bought to kill snakes when we found some poisionous ones in the barn, the exterminator actually told us to look into the jacks for snake control and i youtubed it and sure enough i knew i had to get one! (im deathly afraid of any snakes let alone poisionous ones!) Long story short although i havent seen any snakes this year, i havent seen her kill none either. But one thing she has taken to wierdly enough is hearding the goats and chickens for me, and she does it everyday! At first i thought it was just a fluke or something but shes been hearding them to the barn for a year now and if i have one missing all i have to do is say dixie go get em and whether its a chicken or goat she wont stop till they come home. I know thats not what they are bred to be, and i was actually gonna get a great pyrenees for a lgd but my jack russell does a heck of a good job and is way cheaper to feed!!

What kind of snakes are they?
We used to have Copperheads, Cottonmouths and several rattlesnakes - Western Pigmy, Timber and Massasauga at the farm. I have lots of snakes but haven't seen a venomous one here in 20+ years.

@casportpony Do you just put ivermectin in their beak (horse paste)? I have a couple wit poopy buts, but no obvious worms and normal poop.
I had a flock several years ago and about half had really bad poopy butts. I suspected roundworms and was tempted to worm but I decided to have a fecal sample read first.
After calling over 30 vets, I finally found one 45 miles away in Illinois that agreed to read fecals without seeing 'the patient'. Luckily he also has lots of poultry experience.
They didn't have worms at all but the whole flock had a pretty bad infestation of clostridial bacteria. He gave me tetracycline and everything cleared up.
I'm glad I didn't try worming.

The cheapest feed at my local feed store is $22 for a 50lb bag. That is for purina.
Even our priciest stores are under $18 for 50#.
How much is 50# of grain?

Did to. I didn't realize that when only two people are in a room names must be used so that the other person will know they are being talked to.

I wonder about that too.

I knew something would go wrong.... The wafer thermo is fluxing about FIVE degrees before it turns on. Off at 100, on at 95..... It was off at 100 on at 99 just a few days ago!!!

UGHH. Here's hoping it goes stable soon.....
Usually when mechanical thermostats like a wafer don't act right, something is loose. If you take it apart and tighten everything back up it should work.

E. It's hard for me to explain, but basically the lights aren't turning off and on quickly enough. The lights go off at 100 (yay!) but they don't turn on again until 95, or with some tinkering that somehow changed it but I don't know why, 98.

(I turned the thermostat control back and forth and wiggled it. Why that changed it, I have notta clue...)

I'm horrible at describing stuff, sorry.

I do think I was able to fix the previous problem with what I did in the upgrades, which was to tighten the loose screws that were holding it to the bator.
You're talking about the on/off spread or range which is only adjustable in some digital models.
I think the following one is adjustable down to 0.1 F.

https://www.amazon.com/WILLHI-WH1436A-110V-Temperature-Controller/dp/B00V4TJR00/ref=pd_lpo_328_tr_t_3?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1&refRID=PEGZS1BEBS3D6SP5Q36F

I'm looking into proportional thermostats that aren't just on/off.

10, 20 min? Longer if it's at a temp that's no danger to the eggs.
On a LG, I wait at least 2 hours because it is so fussy.

Hopefully someone will chime in and tell me I'm being an idjit and to just do xxx like happened certain "other times".

Don't sell yourself short; you're a pretty sharp cookie. What's your gut telling you?
That reminds me of the Chevy Chase line in Caddyshack when Judge Smales says he's no slouch at golf. Chase says, "Don't sell yourself short Judge, You're a terrific slouch."

I learned yesterday that my new Llama can jump a four foot plus fence. Who knew. My other two have never done anything like that.
Will that be a problem?

Aint the 99 that was worrying me; it was the 95 of this mornin'.

Sounds like a plan to me
thumbsup.gif

I'm sure you would.

Yeah; nuts are all tight.... Looks okay.
Is the room temp having an impact?

I have high hopes that my daughter is going to do the majority of puppy care, but I'm not naive enough to think I won't be doing a good portion. I'm mostly concerned with the introductions to my extremely large cats. They could eat this little puppy for dinner!
I wouldn't worry just yet. Poms come with an attitude. They still think they're a full sized Spitz.

Yes, they are.... Temp seems normal again.

Thanks, will try that....

Nice!! :drool

Yeah, I waited a lot longer with the LG...

Don't think so, it stays right around 60 degrees...
