EDUCATIONAL INCUBATION & HATCHING CHAT THREAD, w/ Sally Sunshine Shipped Eggs

Banti, has your bator settled down?

Yeah, much as it's gonna, I think. 98-100. Don't like the 98 but I'll settle for it since that's not internal egg temp.

Morning MC. :hugs you put me first! :love

I have those litter buckets. They are too easy to open.
My chickens can't seem to eat with the pipes that long (in your photo). Are they just slow learners? The ducks are fine with it.

seriously try putting raisins in the feed or BOSS or crack they will see it in there!!!

Quote: I was wondering why you use those bulbs, I use 40 or 60 reg old school bulbs

Banty fill me in again on your insulation thickness etc?  you did close the majority of those holes up yes?

2 layers of that bubble wrap insulation stuff. Yes, I actually closed all of em (was too lazy to cut a bazillion liddle holes in the 2nd insulation layer) as I figgered if fanning the lid 5x per day for turning dont give enough oxygen, there's something funny goin on...

(Lid isn't airtight either)

Quote: I think it will work, right now they are separated from the goats, but I pray it does work because I am thinking since my coops are small more like breeding pens I may do the pvc elbows in these thinner but tall containers. thoughts? if Ifind containers large enough I can fill them at the food storage and not have to lug feed around, just fill each feeder as needed, HOWEVER the lid and locking is a big deal with the goats, not sure what type of lid will work, the 5 gal buckets lids fit tight and secure, not sure that a goat wont be able to open something like these...

Most of those feed container lids come off fairly easy, the ones meant to stay outside, usually for bird seed might work.
