Hello Dax. Yes still congested but much better thanks. Hope your day is going well

I agree with them being extremely expensive and small capacity. Temperature tends to be extremely stable but the one that borrowed to try was absolutely terrible when it came to humidity.

I'm a huge fan of GQF brand and have 3 of them. Much cheaper, higher capacity and once set up, very stable
Which gqf?

I like the capacity of the hova-bator and the one's from incubatorwarehouse comes with a flat turner that roles them, doesn't need to be removed for lockdown. But...pretty cheap material for the price. Wish I just bought their kit and built my own.

Dax, Sally said to remind her when she has data again and sheI might be a redneck when she drinks her titos from a quart mason jar, and she hung her Xmas wreath on the door with duct tape.

Good news!! Georgia is standing this AM instead of sitting down & sleeping, and she's gotten more chatty.

@Fire Ant Farm been below zero here snow blowin like crazy, my naked necks doing great, but I guess they're probably used to it by now, I'm not...
Warm now 26* :-)
Well, I just came in to take a break - my face is red and I'm sweating in my tank top. My chickens are sitting in the shade and one is standing in the water pan to cool her feet. It's almost 80 with strong sun (I think I got a sunburn).

What was I working on, you ask? Well, it's supposed to go down to the mid to upper 20s tonight with 26 mph winds.

Yup - it looks like it will drop over 50F in less than 12 hours. So I needed to shelter the Naked Necks (@Beer can , I think they aren't remotely used to the cold, it's been so warm here, and I want to keep the direct wind off of them regardless - they insist on roosting in the open). This is just meant to keep the direct breeze off of them.

I also moved all tender potted plants and trees (a lot) inside, and all the citrus trees to the porch (they should be ok with the radiant heat near the house).

Thanks!

Pros and cons to Brinsea incubators. Anyone.
I have the Octagon 20 with the automatic humidity pump. Pros - as others have said, set it and forget it, extremely stable - like a rock, automatic pump controls humidity very well, the slow auto-turning also works well. Cons - like any other incubator, you need to calibrate it (regardless of what the manufacturer says in the paperwork). A bit of a pain to hatch in, and hard to clean - these two things together have me incubating in it and hatching in another incubator, which works well.

Thanks Dax - yes, I am indeed doing better.

And on that note, I need to head back out for more chores, and to cover the tender stuff in the garden. I've only got another few hours before the temp starts dropping and the wind starts to blow hard...

Here are the totals for the 3rd week.
I am surprised that Purple hasn't been doing as great as I had thought, last week seemed to struggle only gaining 18% but it was better this week at 58%.
Yellow is still growing steady but still very small! Someone suggested might be banty but the only banty I have is a Silkie but I made sure not to incubate any of her eggs..... But we do have some Hamburg hens a silver and a gold maybe it came from one of them, but its all black.

Oh I remember what I wanted to ask, could it have been something to do with the incubation process that stunts their growth? I ask because my friend incubated with her incubator and after looking here and reading, I noticed that perhaps her humidity was too high, thats why only 7 of 19 hatched successful!~
