wow thats gorgeous!!!

I need help! This is my first hatch :D I put the eggs in our styrofoam incubator yesterday and temps were at 102 and 50% humidity consistently, but over night it jumped to 106 and 16% humidity.... I don't want to loose these chicks. Please help!!

If I was in your place :

I would stabilize the temp on 100F, reduce the humidity to 40% and candel at 5 days and 10 days of incubation befor deciding their destiny.

Thanks! I made it as a mini version of my big brooder that I designed for large batches of chicks - that one is 6x3 and 3ft tall. Worked great - and I can put a divider in the middle when I have two groups of chicks that I want to eventually merge. After last year's brooding was over, it turned into my chicken infirmary, and I decided that I wasn't sure I could clean it sufficiently to put babies back in (and also I like having it available for injured birds at a moment's notice). So I'm building two more, and they'll go over in the little "main house" (the one with the leaky roof that I treat as storage and garage).

Here it is partially set up last year for the first of two batches of chicks 1 week apart. The divider is screen and it comes out.

This little one (2x4) I built because I realized I would want something nearby for hatching and for their first nights to hear them if they wandered away from the MHP and got cold. I'll move them when they get bigger - I'll need to brood them indoors longer anyhow because it's so early in the year (even here in Texas - after all, it was 21F this AM!!!)
Saweet bathrooms are so overrated.

Pens, is it all rain or is is threatening to be sleet? I can't imagine that much rain when it's this cold, how awful.

Glad you got that roof repaired. (You did, right? My memory of that read back is a little fuzzy...)

You been into the fruitcake again?

I wish - everything seems fuzzy these days...

Though, now that you mention it, some fruitcake would be nice right now...

(Well, maybe later. The temperature is rising and I need to fill feeders, scoop poop, and triage the frozen hanging waterers and see where we stand after the freezes. Hope no permanent damage...)

But maybe some fruitcake first...

Yes roof is holding well Thank the Lord. Original edge flashing sank into roofing from the weight of the barge gable causing the leak. When this storms over I have 7 more spots to check to verify that they aren't doing the same

All rain. What they used to call a Pineapple Express is now being called atmospheric river. Its 60 degrees with this storm. All snow in mountains has good chance of melting. Supposed to be 15-16 inches of rain over Donner Pass which is close to 7400 feet elevation if I remember correctly.

Sorry took so long to get back. Sister in law went to leave and her battery was dead.
