@hippiestink Hi. I am glad you stopped in, and sorry I missed you.
@mlm Mike @Pensmaster @Fire Ant Farm @kwhites634 AND anyone else who has a suggestion.
I want to build a kind of combination of a stantion and a working/ squeeze chute for my Boer goats. I thought I would make it lower to the ground than the dairy goat milk stand, but up enough to help me work, or with a ramp. I have not come up with a good way to make it squeeze though, and am open to suggestions. The other thought was to make the head gate and feed pan along with one side solid. Since I have not figured out squeeze maybe the second side could be like a crib that comes up to enclose the second side with a butt strap. I figured it could bolt in place unless someone can give me another idea. Thanks guys!
@daxigait i like chaos idea, just use a mobile panel on one side that you squeeze the goat, and use a chain slot latch to secure tightYou could make another stand similar to your milk stand. On your milk stand the head gate has one solid side and one side that probably pivots at the bottom. Could do something like that. Have one solid side going the length of the chute and one side that simply pivots at the bottom. Come up with some way to hook the tops together once the goat is in the chute so that it get's squeezed.
depends on the 5 you tossed were they inferts or DIS, blood rings, if inferts you have a 68.75%How do you determine your hatch rate? I had 16 eggs set, ended up tossing 5, total of 11 chicks successfully hatched!
pretty eggs!
thats so sad, glad all the people are okStory time...
About 2 miles down the road from me is a family who raises goats, chickens, rabbits, not sure what else they have. Anyway, their house burned completely to the ground, nothing left. They got out of the house safely, no people were injured.
The cause of the fire turned out to be a floor heater that they put outside on their back deck, to keep chicks and goats warm that they had brought up for the night because of our unusually cold weather that hit. So sad, all those animals died in the fire. The best guess is that the wind knocked the heater over.![]()
Just sharing as a reminder to be safe with heat sources.
