EDUCATIONAL INCUBATION & HATCHING CHAT THREAD, w/ Sally Sunshine Shipped Eggs

Ok, question..... it may sound dumb but I'm seeing a pattern. I have a new red rooster with my favorite hen. I've been incubating the eggs I get from her with other eggs and although I don't get many eggs from her cause it's winter. Each time it comes to hatching date they die right before. Or they don't grow at all. Could he just put off weak offspring or something??

It's winter;. Winter hatching is more luck than skill. IT could be nutrition on the hens. lack of light. Or they just don't want to come out in the snow. I had 7 quitters last week for no reason. It just happens. 5 months from now 95% will hatch. just the way it is. unless you live in the Southern hemisphere.

I live in Texas where it's mostly warmer climate. The other hens eggs are with a different rooster and they are hatching great! Just not the hen with the new rooster

It was a long day, and it become longer with "Thanks " to my middle daughter, almost 14, a typical teenage. AAAAAAAA

That is very early to start!!

I found that with mine, DH and I became more and more unintelligent on a daily basis from DD's age 151/2 to about 19. Then we became smarter and smarter again!!!!
Maybe it has something to do with frontal lobe myelination (their's not ours) and paying college fees.

Having simultaneously 2 teenage DDs however made us both stupid and smart at the same time which was well confusing....

@Sally Sunshine

That is SUPER cool!!!!!!!

I had to use mine a few times. Highly recommend it. I'm not a fan of keeping aggressive roosters, but this did wonders for salvage, and now Dumbledore is respectful of me. (That super soaker is always in reach, though!)
@BantyChooks I think I found you:

No, they fell in, all on their own! Kev on the NN thread worked it out - he postulated that the gravitational force between eggs and an incubator was greater than that of a black hole. I get to meet Neil Degrasse Tyson (my hero) tomorrow, I've been dared to ask him...

The toads get smiles from now on!
Loving this!!!!!

I survived a day with only one cup of coffee. Just barely. OMG, it was hard.
