EDUCATIONAL INCUBATION & HATCHING CHAT THREAD, w/ Sally Sunshine Shipped Eggs

He had a very very rare Russian breed, the Pavlovskaya chicken

(Not his birds! )

And he remained with no males, he lost all his vorwerk chicken and some heavy loss in other breeds.
This wasn't have to happen, he thinks that the city council have done some development works that cause the water to change corse.

Too bad about city construction.

If his hens were recently bred he could still get that breed back right?

Pretty devastating though I could see why he'd want to quit.

How large are your tractors? I need a way to let 8 LF out of their 4x16 run during the day w/o exposing them to predation, plus being able to move them from place to place before the totally decimate the vegetation in one spot. Down to 6 pullets from an original 14. I think my biggest problem will be transferring them from run to tractor & vise versa; they ain't big on being caught.
If you make a door to the run that you could line up the tractor door with then you could open one from inside the run and have the one in the tractor open the other way and they can let themselves into and out of the tractor, and then you shut it behind them.

My geese are great-used to find possums curled up in my duck pen-not since I got the geese! Same with aerial attacks... so much better with them especially on my runners. I may or may not have 8 sebbie/sebbie mixes in the bator now

have to see how many hatch and how many are spoken for if you might be interested) but I love the goosers

I know Mini may want a couple. Liz is on the egg list and Kaj said she wanted some but i'm not sure if they want purebred sebbies or if mixes are ok. I only have 2 purebred sebbie eggs that made it so far and i plan to keep those but the Sebastopol / Dewlap Toulouse mixed breeds are gorgeous too!!! Bill still does not know about them

do you have pics of the mix?

Well the lady in my GPS obviously doesn't live around here, 'cause she can sure come up with some screwed-up ways to get places.
lol, its a setting in your gps, most direct, fastest, avoid tolls, etc

My daughter is having her birthday party tonight, almost a month late but still. My house is overrun with little girls. I promised her that she could have a slumber party for her 10th birthday. I don't know if this will happen again. 8 little girls doing makeup and nails and screaming over each other to hear each other is tough! I feel like Miss Hannigan on Annie lol. I may be having a glass of wine!

In other news, I contacted a lady on ebay that I got silkie eggs off of last year. The babies that hatched grew in to beautiful, decent quality birds. I knew she had lavenders but she always sells in multi colored groups so I asked her if I could get strictly lavenders off her. She set things up just for me so it looks like I'm going to get some lavender silkie eggs next week

Should help make the lavender show girl project easier

lol, hope you got some sleep, thats great news on the silkies!

We had some substantial reins 2 weeks ago, one of my breeders colleagues,Lidor, have lost almost 80% of its flocks! Some extraordinary beautiful breeding stock!
All his pens, and coops was under of almost 2 feet of water due a flash flood, it was the first time that it happened, he didn't knew that he lives in a FF pathway!
Oh no!! that stinks!!

Help My power went out and my incubator temperature drop to 70 degrees do you think they will be ok
The power was out for four hours it too that amount time to get to 70 degrees and they are on day 7
They *should* be okay. Good luck!
@prine136 i agree with banti, they should be fine, might have a couple late hatchers

Indeed, my friend had lost almost all its flocks to a flash flood that covered his birds coops with 2 feet of water and mud.
A 3 years work went down the drain!
I am trying to convince him not to give up entirely.
i hope your efforts work
