Got Chrissy's new pen half done. Just have to figger out how I'm gonna rig up a roof, and keep the dog from getting downstairs.... She rarely does, but I still worry. I wish I had the living world cage free to put her in.

Does anyone here know how to stop an egg eating hen?


She is a show bird so I would hate to have to trim her beak.

It is quiet hard but, if you collect the eggs ASAP and put instead the eggs some golf balls, the cannibal hen will try endlessly to brake them, and hopefully she will understand that thst effort is worthless and stop.
If not a chicken soup is a good option! Just remember that if you won't solve the problem you could find yourself wit a flock of cannibals! Because it is a behaviour copped by other!

Beak trimming won't solve the problem.
Collect often and fill the nests with ceramic, wooden or plastic eggs.
It usually begins with a broken egg (thin shell), then they realize how good they taste. I've broken a few egg eaters and have not had to cull any yet.
Upping the protein from animal sources tends to help too.
Barring those remedies, a roll out nest is the only option.
