EDUCATIONAL INCUBATION & HATCHING CHAT THREAD, w/ Sally Sunshine Shipped Eggs

I am very interested in the Native American, I prefer to call them Indians, history since I was a boy, all the beautiful books of Fenimore Cooper karl may, Jack London, all the comix of Tex willer, al the westerns I LOVE IT! I see alot of films at You tube about old technology and cooking ect.

I think most of us typically call them indians. The western tribes interested me the most. And the Florida Seminoles, read a good book yrs ago about the group that refused to be relocated and hid in the Everglade swamps.
Was just skimming through Wyondot and Iroquois history. Loooks like the Iroquois Haudenosaunee chased off the Wyondot with newly acquired rifles over the fur trade, eliminate competition I guess.
My ancestors came to the new world from Holland to New Amsterdam in 1644, moved to the Catskill Mountains shortly after and supplied tree bark for tanning hides to the settlers in New Amsterdam and lived among the Natives. Read a story the men and boys lived in a cave while the women and young children lived in a cabin at the time.

I know them, if I remmber correctly the groop leader of this Seminole groop was called Oseolla. one of the amazing thing was the indians had a very developed Adoption system to their tribe, especially the Semnole tribe. They would recive any capture men, women or child(if they decided that it was worth of keeping! ) without regarding their Skin color! And in time where the "enlightened" civilization would sell people like cuttle, just because they have to much Melanin in their skin!

I'd love to get one. They are not common here, but I could probably at least find leghorns...... Not sure if I can find anything but pullets tho. Feed stores are just chock full of sex links, Easter eggers, and fancy bantams.

Mediterranean breeds.

I'd stay away from the Italians cause they're smaller than the Spanish. Minorcas are huge, agile and should be available there.
Hamburgs or Orloffs would be good too.
I'm sure you have Chanteclers.

EEs and fancy bantams are there because there is a market for them. You guys are your own worst enemy.

because u can't check diffrente spots in the bator the only holes are right above the heating element

The probe is on an 18" cord. It doesn't have to hang under the heat element.
You can always drill another hole.

diffrente. Is that Portuguese or Cajun for different?

Penedesencas? YOU FORGOT THEM? :lau

I've probably researched the Maya culture more than any other Native Americans.
I've taken my family to sites in Cozumel, Tikal, Coba, Chichen Itza and Tulum. I want to go to Palenque and Copan.
I've also studied and stayed with Yucatec Maya in Quintana Roo and the Bribri and Cabecares in Costa Rica.

I want it to be right

If you get the probe close to the eggs it will be right. It is accurate to ± 0.2ºF.
The cord on the probe is only 18" long so if you have a big cabinet incubator you may have to make modifications to the incy.

Why do you want to be argumentative about these things.

This are some wonderful places, I have only read about! I haven't been in messo or sud America befor, but I surly will! To visit Copan and Tikal and see the Historical sites of the Mayans civilization and Machu Picchu in Peru and other Incas sites is something that interest me very much.

Have you ever tried using dux eggs as slingshot ammo? They are nice and aerodynamic and would shoot a long ways......

I have wanted a slingshot for a while. Now that you have given me this idea, I will be searching Amazon today!

OK, I really DID go to bed, and was almost totally asleep when I heard chirping. I thought it was likely the chicks in the hatcher drying off, but wanted to be sure it wasn't one in the brooder who got lost away from the heat. So I got up just to check, and yes, it was chicks in the hatcher, but also, sure enough, the last egg has now started to zip.

I can't really manage to go to sleep when an egg is mid-zip somehow. So I'm likely going to be up for a little while. (Though I may give up if this little one doesn't do the job quickly enough...)

(There needs to be a sleepy/yawning emoji...)
