Yes I believe chicks molt multiple times the first year

Another change of plans...I'm getting dizzy
Not roofing with corrugated panels of any kind; going with 3-tab shingles, instead...whole lot less $$....should be done later this week
Bought two 10' lengths of Z-bar from Lowes...p/u tomorrow

Actually, they might be 9 months now.... Time is running together..... Sorry.
Gosh my grow out pen is ful of feathers.
Quote: Not a problem at all; not this boy. That's why I'm paying the guy $20/hr. Figures it'll take about 3 squares
Time......flies
Question: Can chickens molt in their first year of life? I was told that the two sultans I got were 6-8 months old, but they're molting in full force. They don't seem like they should be molting- i.e. pullet body shape and silky soft feathers.
So feed store today was $95 for 4 bags layer feed and 2 bags starter non medicated 18%. Eggs sales, from last feed purchase, paid $56 of that $95 not bad considering I'm raising 14 meat birds and 13 Altsterier chicks along with the hens laying eggs. And there's food left over from last egg sales. Now if they could keep that up all winter we'll be doing something.

Time......flies

Oh, my littles molt plenty.... These guys are full grown.... They just have that skinny, longlegged first year layer look they loose after 18 months, ya know what I mean?
Sorry if I don't make sense....
