Everyone, meet Premie! She was the only chick to "hatch" from the lavender silkie eggs that I ordered a few weeks ago. Nobody jump down my throat, I know I broke the rules with her but I wanted to make sure she made it so please, no negativity, this isn't a usual thing that I do. She was due to hatch tomorrow which is no big deal since my eggs typically hatch early BUT, I helped her hatch....yesterday. After only 2 eggs made it to lockdown and then other egg died (I was watching them closely). I did an eggtopsy to check how far along it was. I was fully developed and yolk sack absorbed and was even pipped. Fearing for Premie, I poked an emergency pip hole and kept a close eye and ear on her. I ended up opening her shell when I thought that she might be in trouble. Blood vessels were receding and her internal pip was there but she looked like she was gasping. It took all afternoon but by evening, she was completely out of her egg with only a tiny little piece of yolk still unabsorbed. She basically laid in the incubator in the fetal position all night. I'm sure she was finishing up her development inside. This morning, I made her a little "nest" with a towel and a little container and held her upright with her little feet under her. I wish I would've taken a picture of her in it, it looked so comfy! In the past few hours, she has really come alive! She's opening her eyes and talking to me like crazy now and has found how her feet are supposed to work She's gonna be a mamma's girl (or boy).

I am glad one made it!

@Sally SunshineMy thoughts and prayers are with you tonight and tomorrow as you undergo surgery. Lord, may the Doctors and surgical staff have wisdom, clarity of thought, precision and your guidance. Be with the staff in recover too. Encourage her and her family and provide in clear ways on the things they know and don't know will need done. Provide encouragement, and use it as a time to bring them closer to you. I pray for the best outcome beyond even predicted possibility. I am also praying for rapid progress in her recovery. May you guide and protect her. I also continue to lift up HarmonyAnn for a resolution and healing so this stress may be lifted. As I pray for Sally I am also remembering Meltel. Be at work in and for her too. Now to him who is able to do immeasurably more than we can ask or imagine be all glory, honor, and praise. In you may they find peace.

I got to talk with mine too, drama as usual, our friendship has not been ughhhhh, So happy you have a good one!

There you ARE!!!!!! 

It took space/time and maturity, but by our late twenties we were great friends and have not looked back. We are very different, but share enough to make it work. We also live a ways apart which lessens day to day differences.

@BantyChooks & @Sally Sunshine I only wear a certain kind of slipper and the cheapest i can find them for is $15-they are usually around $25-30 so when i got them for $4 & $5 I had to stock up!!!

I change out slippers and shoes every 3-4 months

You think your feet are sooo important until you only have 1 hand-I better stock up on gloves too

BTW, I'm married to a germephobe (sp?) And I routinely have poop on my hands, clothes, and occasionally hair. I don't think you're nuts, but living like this with a husband like mine can drive you there lol
