EDUCATIONAL INCUBATION & HATCHING CHAT THREAD, w/ Sally Sunshine Shipped Eggs

what do I do to clean it. the chicks have been in the brooder all day but the slime are whatever has dried and there not fluffing up.

Good night everyone. Tonight wasn't as good as I hoped. My shoulder is out. I'm in pain. Gonna see if I can sleep. Hope you all have a great night.

:hugs Sleep well!

one of the pipped eggs, is bloody.

i know that's not a good sign, but it's still rocking and chirping... I'm going to bed, but for those who dealt with that, what's the odds of it being alive by morning?

There is always a chance. A little blood can look bad.

They will fluff in the brooder. Any slime will dry and flake away.
You know that slime isn't normal. But, I'm impressed with the success of your hatch.

@Sally SunshineHi! Yes, beet pulp (shreds NOT pellets). It is highly digestible source of fiber and something we have used for years with older horses or horses needing to gain weight. It is great stuff best gotten from a feed store. A big 40/50 lb. bag runs $13.50 here. I give 1/2-1 cup a day in the winter, when pregnant, or if they have been ill. I will try to get a picture tomorrow. You can feed it wet to add extra water to a diet or dry.

If it the morning the slime is dry and totally sticking the wings to the body you can run the some warm water over the chick and then dry in a warm towel. Remove slime with a qtip if it is hard to get it off. Take care not to let the chick chill.
If wings/legs are not stuck and affecting mobility leave them be and the dry slime will fall off over a few days.
The slime suggests it hatched too early.
