You have a bunch of bantam roos right?

Maybe you could skin them and sell them as quail, LOL.

Sorry, still not buying it I lived in Grand Portage on the shores of lake Superior and the border to the Vast Wasteland of the North, and traveled the back country for years never saw in June. other than shaded snow pack which was pretty granular and almost gone..

The list of peaks in Mo, seem to top out under 1,800 ft. Eagle Mountain which was very close to me was 2300 ft.
I feel you. I wouldn't buy it either. My parents didn't believe me either. All I can say is the way I remember it (though it was over 50 years ago. I carried the bucket to the spring and there was a thin layer of ice around the edges. It may have been as early as May but I know it was very cold.

I believe the smallest flock I've ever had was 13 birds... That was before I started hatching.

The smallest I've ever had was 10. Three months later I had 100. I've been down to about 20 a couple times but have edged up to 100 on many occasions. I have close to 100 now with more due to hatch Monday and another 36 eggs in the incubator.
I think I need to sell some.
I grew up with 100 white leghorns for egg sales and the occasional batch of 25 Cornish X for meat plus a small flock of pheasants.
