EDUCATIONAL INCUBATION & HATCHING CHAT THREAD, w/ Sally Sunshine Shipped Eggs

40 Black copper Marans are on day 22. I have one chick and 2 external pips that quit. I held the humidity at 35-40 and the temp held well at 99.5 never dropping under 99 or going over 100. At lockdown I raised the humidity to 65 with a couple spikes to 70. I am using a foam gator with a fan. Any suggestions...hard to reframe from assisting at this point. I did not candle because it was to hard to see in the dark eggs.

Not an expert on them but I have heard their shells are harder. Is there a Marans thread?

I can't be of much help. I have over 50 eggs in a LG. 36 are on about day 6. I thought the rest were due tomorrow night. I went up to turn the younger eggs and add water. As I was moving the eggs around, I felt a bump. It was a pip and I could see the beak. I misted the whole thing, put some water in the troughs, quickly turned the 36, misted again and closed up. I came back down to look at the incubation countdown timer and they're due in 8 hours and 40 minutes. What a dummy I am.
Too much stuff going on in my life. Not to mention that I really don't have anywhere to put the birds. I better start selling and butchering chickens.

HAS anyone ever seen/ had a chick like this?

I hatched this polish yesterday, and it hatched just fine with no issues. But, today I noticed that it's head was a bit bigger than the otheres. Well, I picked it up and saw that it only has 1 eye and a lump on the other side! It is walking around just fine and none of the other chick free picking on it. But what do I do? Do I keep it? Do I cull it?

Polish as all the crested breeds are prone to suffer from cranial problems.

I'm in the same boat. Camp Freezer is about to become booked up.

She claimed to be German!!!

Her Grandpa was the one that fessed up and told me the truth...

Same as her "scandinavian" heritage. Had I known she was a mix of Polish and Lesser Scandinavian, I would have never done it. I was fooled.
Can one do anything in Minnesota without bumping into a Scandinavian?

We have here TONS of jokes on polish people especially women.....
When I was growing up, Polish jokes were all the rage.

Trouble is I only have 2 adult roosters I can butcher. Though that will help, it won't free up a building. I have 2 cockerels that hatched Jan 2 and one of those can go but I'd like them to get bigger. The other is unrelated to any of my other birds so he is way too valuable to eat.
I need to move hens around to see who's laying the light colored eggs so I can sell them.
