EDUCATIONAL INCUBATION & HATCHING CHAT THREAD, w/ Sally Sunshine Shipped Eggs

Not worms or coccidia. He recommended probios, so I'm at TSC. What else should I get while I'm here? I only have tylan at home.
I've got corid and probios now. Looking at Terramycin opthamalic ointment- is the oxytetracycline hydrochloride better than the bacitracin (and other two?) in triple antibiotic ointment? Is terra-vet 200 (oxytetracycline 200mg/ml) a better broad-use antibiotic than tylan?
It's a completely different type of drug. Both are good for some things, but not good for others. -Kathy
Kathy can you please send me a link to this chart? I want to save it

BAWAHHAHHAHHAHAA    coughs I mean what does that mean lalo????

Isnt that why its called fortified B complex it has it in it?  hmmm now I am thinking more!! lol
My vet often perscibes both, or one or the other. You would have to ask more questions than I do to have the why answer.

Probios and plain grass hay. Without the goat in front of him he's thinking it's something dietary. I have to take his temp and watch him a few days.
Honestly, a quick change in diet, can cause that. when I saw what you were talking about, I was a lot less concerned, then thinking poop runs that sprays everywhere.

Yes, those are looser - I would deworm, too. Goats can get worms, which can cause looser stools. Since you are doing a fecal, it won't hurt to do probiotics and wait to see if there's worms.

Bloat issues, can also cause looser stools... and so can eating things they shouldn't be eating.
Over-eating can also cause the stool I saw.

If you over-eat, did you know that you'll end up having the runs because your body can't digest that much at once? I would consider muzzling him and seeing if reducing his free-range ability fixes the problem.

Also - One last thing about goats, they do need access to salt licks, similar to horses. ;)

Rock salt, and natural sources are great to have available, and some goat feeds, will add salt to make sure they get extra.

I'm pouting now :hit

:hit I swear I made it last night! I really tried hard to make it right for you! I didn't even joke about your name ("Mike or Phil")! I can do better! Tell me what you want! How do you like it?!
I have seriously wondered about how wise getting goats is after reading all this. It is a lot more complicated than it seemed....

You left the extra key in plain sight. :weee

No. I changed the locks and swallowed both keys. Took all the tools, and boarded up the windows.

She just wormed. Unless the eyelids are very pale I would not. People are worming too much. I have a couple of boers that have only been wormed once this year and are fine. Especially since she was doing a fecal.
