What do you mean by cooker in incubating just so you know.

While I don't LOVE it, I don't really mind doing it - but it gets to be a big job when the "grass" (green weeds) is growing so quickly. I really have to keep up with it in the back because among the stuff I'm mowing down are small seedlings/saplings of mesquite and other trees. It's the key to keeping the cleared areas clear and therefore useful. I mowed most of the afternoon today - and Puppy followed along after me catching all the bugs startled by he mower. Smart girl.

So, after all the rain and then brooder cleaning this morning, the rest of the day looked like this:

I need goose advice. My girl went broody by a tree across the pond. I dont like leaving them out at night. if I take her eggs tomorrow when she comes off the nest will it mess her up? I've never had a broody goose before!

I don't have geese, but I've read that if you move them, it breaks them and they won't sit again (and that you may end up needing to build a safe area/fencing AROUND them).

Honas are done. 11 chicks hatched, 2 with leg problems. 6 were alive at lockdown and died. 2 internally pipped then died. So 11 of 19.

I changed the feed a couple weeks ago anticipating these results. How long before I test hatch again?

I was getting low rates on my shipped eggs, so I wanted to be sure. I was feeding Dumor layer pellets and switched to feather fixer layer pellets. It was the easiest thing to test first because it was the easiest fix. You had mentioned that average layer feed nutritionally wasn't enough for strong hatching.

I can't speak for the timing, but I switched to Feather Fixer at some point last year, and they've been on it a while. It's the closest I'll ever come to a "breeder ration". I've had near 100% hatch rates.
