Ummm how bout NO WAY!!

Good afternoon, all. I'm nearing the count down with my incubation: Home made cooler bator, digital thermostat. I had it set up with a fan, but even with the fan, the temps were not consistent throughout the box. So, out of desperation, I unplugged the fan, and temps have actually been more manageable. Still some high and low spots, but by keeping the eggs in plastic/PVC turners, and positioning them carefully, I have maintained a good hatching temp and humidity. Have hardly had to add water at all with humidity staying in 30's. Day 16. 18 dancers, 3 too dark to tell.

So, here's the ? of the day: I'm curious how many of you lay your eggs flat to hatch, versus keeping them upright in egg cartons? I expect to do an air cell assessment at lock down to help with that decision, but I'm wondering what you all have done, and how you make that decision? Is it a matter of, "I do it this way because I've always done it this way. Versus: I do it this way b/c this works best for my particular incubator. Versus: It all depends. Rationale for your style?

Next question: How many of you decrease temp for hatch, and when do you do so?
Well, Good afternoon! Good to see you back.
My 1st hatch I laid them flat. 2nd go 'round they hatched in cartons. In my case it was pretty much 6 of 1, half dozen of the other.
