Can I use my cooler bator without the fan just for hatching? And fix it later? Remind me if I should still do the 65% for lockdown if AC are small?

In chicken news, 9 of the 12 eggs from Florida made it to lock down 2 rings 1 dud. All 12 of mine going well. AC's of dark ones not as developed but should be fine.

In mushroom news Ralphie I did find another Morel. It was in the compost pile. My compost pile isn't a pile of poop as your imagining. That side of the pile hasn't been touched in years. When I scrape firebreaks all the weeds, leaves, bark go there. I do turn it from time to time just to keep weeds down and move that to my garden areas when needed.

Can anyone give me some hope please! My khaki duck eggs are on day 25 just put into lockdown when I candled them they are wriggling about. When I looked at the pointed end it was clear is that normal? I thought all the egg was supposed to be dark

Hey you guys!

Got a quick question - is hatching duck eggs alot different than hatching chicken eggs? I know they have to be sprayed every once in a while er somethin' like that, but, other than that, I'm all in the dark - which is kind of embarrassing, but there's no time like the present to learn! I'm going to go through some of the articles, also, but I wasn't sure if they covered this or not .... they probably do, so if so, sorry!

GOOD MORNING, AND WELCOME TO ANOTHER WORK DAY! DRINK UP!!

LOLZ Mornin MC! Imma have a baby to hold!!! yayayya

Good morning...all

I have a mystery of the world with me today.

I went to the incubators this morning to move my turkey eggs that hatch this week to the hatcher.

I heard a weird sound coming from inside one of the incubators. I was afraid for a few seconds I had pulled an Aurora and forgot to move eggs to the hatcher. I knew this had to be wrong, as I have never made a mistake and that would be one.

I found this inside the incubator running around on the bottom.

This was weird to find in my incubators!

I decided to check the eggs on the off chance I made a mistake. I found every egg clearly marked with "14" on them, they are next weeks hatch like I thought.

I did find one egg broken open, I am assuming, considering this is the only broken open egg, and as it is marked for as an Appltini" egg and the chick looks like an appletini chick. It came from that egg.

As you can see here it is marked properly with a "14".

Now I have a few questions

1) what is going on here?
2) How did this happen?
well, I do have this happen to serama, and its not because they are small, it is always because the eggs were hidden or not gotten the same day laid and the hen preincubated them, earliest for me was at day 14 hatch. I would prol know this stuff if I would candle before I set them lol but not a big deal if a early bird hatches.
