None of the blue/green eggs have done more than pip. I think they didn't lose enough weight, so DIS. :hit it's just now day 21, so I guess we'll see. It's Ralphie who says the legbars are a day late? Or was it early...?

I found legbars tend to go a day later than some.

A cake pan and cooling rack inside a rubbermaid tub work well to help catch
excess water and feed for an easy clean up in the brooder. Its important to keep the brooder dry!
This is my SAXONY ducklings on Wednesday CENTER]

Cut jugs at the base level of the chicks neck so they can drink
and if they do get inside the jug it wont be over their heads.
Just big enough to get their head in and out comfortably.
And throw the lid out, DONT put it on the jug!
Make a new jug every week or as needed, Ducklings GROW FAST!

PS I LEARNED A GREAT TRICK...... KEEP THEIR FEED SEPARATE FROM THEIR WATER LIKE AT OPPOSITE ENDS, IT KEEPS CLEAN AND THE WATER WONT STINK!
Thanks so much Sally dear

I'll pick stuff up tomorrow to improve it. Currently they are in a huge rubber water tank and making a mess. Mom and dad also bought me 6 chicks that are "from the Easter bunny"

♀️ That dang bunny! So I need to pick up a bigger brooder for them tomorrow too. Mom stole the one I had last year because it had wheels

how is gotro? and I feel 50 plus! I am glad you dont! very pretty peeps, love the good mix of coloring what is the spotted one in the back?
She is doing great! Busy with a new puppy! That spotted one is hers, and I don't have much info. She thinks that Mr. Snowman is the dad, who is a "confusing mix". He's all white except for a little splash coloring in his tail. The 3 yellows and 1 brown chipmunk were her backyard mix eggs. The JUST hatched chick on the far left front is the lone Biefielder that hatched. She started with a dozen - she put half under her broody and I got the other half. Only 1 that I took was fertile, and under her broody, the only fertile one got crushed.

We're supposed to get some more rain tonight. We're not expecting much from it though.

Once upon a time (I was falling in love, but now I'm only falling apart) there was a dog that wasn't getting proper grooming. The matted fur was fixed easily enough. The nails were not so easy. They could either by cut all the way down while under anesthesia at the vet (and pain pills for a few days after), or cut as often as possible at home. Well... I have not been cutting often enough, and I really need to know. Just how often CAN I cut the nails? Is weekly too much? @Sally Sunshine
Weekly is fine
It's absolutely pouring outside. This is what came down last night not including the downpour we are getting right now. The new dam on the pond didn't hold. I've rebuilt it but it's probably going to go again. Will need concrete bags lined up in it to hold I'm afraid.

Oh geez, stay safe
:ep how is gotro? and I feel 50 plus! I am glad you dont! very pretty peeps, love the good mix of coloring what is the spotted one in the back? must be your warm weather they grow fast ughhhhhh why would you want to do that with those? you should be able to candle them, I always could??? As far as marans, no matter how dark you can see the air cell after day 7 so if they dont stink and you keep an eye on the air cell you can hatch them without going to extremes, if they dont stink they dont have an issue yes?;)
If they don't stink they stay lol
I'm sorry :( Hi CH what up? fish bitin? @MotorcycleChick I just had this conversation with a pup parent lol. YES every 7-10 days to help the "quick" recede! After trimming that little bit of nail you can, within seven days, the quick should have receded enough to allow you to trim off another little bit of nail again and continue the process until the nails are back to a decent length and dont tip tap on the floor, basically they shouldn't touch the floor. SO FREQUENT but GRADUAL and you can get their neat tidy nails back! If you file it you can do it more often.

I need to quick my dog, ugh
thanks, and nope imma baby squirrel!
Me too!!!! Of 8
Thanks! Yes, we go to Ireland in the Summer. My brother-in-law takes care of the hens for us, but he has kind of an irregular schedule so he wouldn't be able to put a rooster to bed and let him out in the morning. I console myself with the fact that we're moving to Ireland next year though, and then I'll finally be able to keep roosters. :) That chick is a mottled blue Orpington. I am about 80% sure it is a male but I am keeping my fingers crossed! Every time we get a blue chick it always turns out to be male though.
Awesome!! I want to go so bad!!!!!
Early, I believe.... Sorry bestie :hit
wrong, late

Shots in back were more painful than I imagined. Hope the work might take a few days to tell. Not sure if that is what has me depressed or having an empty incubator. Guess I need to set something and find out.

Wow I am a downer aren't I? Sorry I digress and if I feel the incubator is acclimated tonight will set some turkey eggs.

Hopefully they work for you! Not a downer. Incubation fixes almost everything

SET ALL EGGS!!!! Have they tried a TENS unit yet? Mine gives me some relief-it's like a different pain to distract me. We have tried it on my husbands shoulders too and he says it helps too-says its like deep massage.

What is a TENS unit?
Its a type or neurostimulator. I hook up 4 sticky pad electrodes and the machine basically electrocutes me so i feel that pain instead of my normal pain

It sounds weird but it does help some. I have to put the pads highr up my arm though-anything touching my hand or wrist more than 10 minutes or so is unbearable
