Flat top? As in one of those new fangled stoves?!
I have an All American - the 915 model (still small enough that it works on my flat topped stove). It just makes so much scary noise when you're first venting it.
I got all of it canned that I'm going to can - the rest will be stock that I'll make and can this week. (The white stuff on the jars in front is just from our hard water - haven't wiped them with vinegar yet.)

Well, just let me know if you have questions. Wire may be fine up top, but you may need to use HW cloth down low or raccoons, etc, will reach in and get your birds.
