EDUCATIONAL INCUBATION & HATCHING CHAT THREAD, w/ Sally Sunshine Shipped Eggs

For what it's worth, a lot of times, the blood looks like a lot more than it is. When I assist hatch my guys, I usually wet the membranes and it makes it look like it bleeds more too, I don't tear, I "roll" it over the chick and I found if I manage to help get the hole big enough, I can kind of just shake the chick out of the egg until it's head/wing is free, and then put it back into the incubator. It will kick itself out when it's ready, but at least it can breath easier while it finishes absorbing everything.

I've lost a lot less chicks by helping them that way, then trying to wait until everythings perfectly dry and until the last minute when they are too weak to make it.

Yes I don't usually tear the inner membrane either. The bloody chick is acting like a normal day old no problem. The yolk out chick didnt make it.

I hugged my wife twice today.
Told this to my husband. He asked why I hadn't hugged him. I said because he was in dirty clothes (he was) and he asked..."Do you think your chickens are clean?"
He has a point. gig.gif

I got diagnosed with OHSS .... and I ovulated 10 eggs after we only saw 3-4 on the scan on tuesday. It's a little bit freaky. Hubby said no more fertility treatments with injectables since my PCOS makes me try to have a litter of puppies, instead of a human baby. LOL

So, depending on what happens, we will be going back to the drawing board to figure out how to get me to ovulate, with out having litters.
