So for us citiot s. . what is the time frame from internal to external and external to pip ? And is it the same for ducks vs chickens ?

24 for both in chickens. Ducks take a lot longer, up to 72 hours pip to hatch. Zip goes about 40 minutes, but with my ducks one took about an hour to zip and that definitely would have been bad if I had rushed it. So it isn't set.

Banti can tell you better than I can - she over-candles. I don't look for internal pip, I leave them alone. But I think internal to external is about 24 hours (more?), and external to zip can be up to 24 hours. I've never hatched ducks, but my understanding is that everything takes longer...

I think it might be in the links at the beginning of the thread.

I don't pay attention to internal pip times, because I won't assist if they can't pip on their own. I just like peeking.

Yes, I finally got around to pre-reading them 'cos I was going to give them to the Rugrats.... Now I'm hooked. Incredibly well written series.

And Kristin doesn't mean that about the lawnmower. Anyone wanna send me a PM telling me whether Snape is good or not?

I *think* I've decided not to interfere with my next hatch at all and see how it goes. But I just feel like the calls are at an unfair advantage. I only helped out the two after no progress in like 30 hours after pip and was pretty Sue all the others were already dead. I couldn't bear to lose them when only one hatched on its own out of 13!

Oh, calls are 'nother entirely different ball park. I'd definitely assist them.

I actually don't. I weigh, I look for veins, and then I put it back. I tell ya, incubating deep blue and dark brown eggs cures the desire to candle - very hard to see much even with two flashlights.
