EDUCATIONAL INCUBATION & HATCHING CHAT THREAD, w/ Sally Sunshine Shipped Eggs

Beacuse I found it like that yestrday, and I have no idea how old it is, I have 9 eggs, Amd I can't get more (Good reason) so I'm trrying to keep all I have (And no ruin all of them for the 2nd time)
I'm not sure what to say to that. I have set dirtier eggs. They usually don't make it for me. I've wiped eggs...they usually quit. I did wash guinea eggs in warm/bordering on almost hot with a bit of bleach. I think I got a couple to hatch...but most of those didn't.

I haven't got the best track record with dirty eggs. :( I won't usually set them now either because I have many clean ones to choose from.

I disinfect in bleach, it makes no difference on hatch rate...NPIP rules require all eggs be disinfected if placed in an incubator.

Do you think the large hatcheries would not have used political pressure to squash that rule if it lowered the rate by one percent?

I admit I was leery of it when I became NPIP..but when I gave it a fair shake and it made no diff, other than making the incubators smell better and clean easier.

Other than Toad eggs I hatch at better than 90% in the late spring on disinfected eggs.

What is the mix you make if she wants to wash/bleach her egg? Sounds like you have a good outcome with it.

Does anyone else miss the vacuums with retractable cords?

Nope, don't miss them.

I just got off the phone with "the Doctors Office"

We go to a huge medical company, they own the clinics, pharmacy and the works. They are too big for me, but because my wife works for them we use their insurance, which of course, means their clinics.

I decided I should see my doc before my surgery do to my problems this last week. Maybe putting it off a month makes sense...

The receptionist and staffers are Mc Donald summer help but not as bright...

Now and then you get one that thinks they are doctors and geniuses...

I told her I wanted an appointment with my doc...His schedule is full... No biggie. can I talk to his nurse.

(her) Well. why for what reason?

(me) Because I have surgery scheduled and I am not sure I should go through with it right now?

(her) Why not?

(me) Because I have been sick with extreme diarrhea and have lost 17 pounds in 4 days.

(her) Yes, but what symptoms make you think you should be seen?

(me) I have had severe diarrhea, I lost 17 pounds in 4 days, I am weak and my muscles are cramping when I exert myself. I think I am dehydrated. Not sure if is is safe for a older person to go under general anesthesia when electrolytes are depleted.

(her) maybe you should go to ER.

(me) I am recovering no reason to go to ER

(her) well, how do you know your electrolytes are depleted if you don't go to ER?

(me) I had severe diarrhea and lost 17 pounds in 4 days.

(her) Are you dieting?

(me) Can I please talk to the nurse?

(her) If you could give me some symptoms I will see if she will talk to you...

I am getting an idea why medical costs are out of line in this country. We are equal opportunity employers and hire idiots to do jobs some one with an IQ of 85 could handle if they had any common sense... If it dd not come across, I do not suffer idiots well....View attachment 1063517

I miss it cause I'm with you guys. :p

Hey, I'm not picky, I'll take both...:lau

Oh yeah...that's right. But at least my scalpels are sharp. You only get a dull one IF I don't like you. I like you, Mike. You're safe. :thumbsup

Yes, finished all the episodes available on Netflix.
Glad I'm safe! :wee
I like you, too.

To all the American freinds here, I wish a very grate and happy Forth of July!
Go easy on the Hotdogs, attack hard the stakes!
(
Here it will enter in 3 hours, so let me be the first to congratulate you!)

Thank you very much, Benny! I'll be enjoying pork ribs tomorrow.

That's odd... An alert from BYH just popped up on my BYC PM page. Anyone else had this happen? I couldn't reproduce it.

Strange, haven't seen that.

Hi Shaw...
:frow been busy today. Spent some time with my grandpa at the nursing home. They had their 4th of July celebration this evening. It was pretty good considering low budget. I eat some cotton candy and now I regret it lol. Not sitting well on my stomach. I hate him being there. . but glad he isn't alone if he was to fall or something. He is 88 years young.
Ya double:tongue on that one lol.

Hope everyone is well. Not on BYC much just now but saw that Ralphie had lost 17lbs in 4 days.:hugs
Didn't know that was even possible.

@antfarm
That Bator Full of eggs hatched, well some did. It must have been runing very hot on the top shelf as virtually all the top shelf did not make it past 3 days. Double stacking probably prevented ventilation/air movement.
Of the rest that hatched I sold all the ayam cemani chicks to a really nice young couple for $240 and I am left with a bunch of Dalmatian AC x TJ leghorns.
Cute chicks that I think I can mostly sex at hatch.
Sadly no-one wants chicks just now :(

Didn't stop me filling the bator again  but now I am really worried about what to do with the chicks.
