EDUCATIONAL INCUBATION & HATCHING CHAT THREAD, w/ Sally Sunshine Shipped Eggs

Good thanks!
Did not know about the Lyme disease
Is it a new thing?
Do you think you got it from the long seatings in the last hunting season?
Lymes disease has been around forever it seems like, but I've never had it 'til now, as far as I know. I spent relatively little time in tick-prone areas last season. Most of my hunting time was, and has been for several years, from my own enclosed blind. I've never seen a tick there, though there easily could be some. I do spend time in my own field & woods, however. Who knows? They're everywhere, 'specially when the Winter hasn't been cold enough to kill them off.

Thanks. Yeah it's a bit dishearting. It's been one of those deaths everywhere weeks. :(
We lost one of our favorite EE chickens. My daughter was upset. She went out to the coop and the poor chicken was dead as a doornail on the ground.

I mean, with the heat index we've had so far, I'm surprised we haven't had more deaths. It's just been so hot with high humidity and the poor birds don't do that great.

I need to take 4 of these boy goats to auction, sometime in the next couple weeks, too. My husband keeps telling me it will cost almost as much in gas to drive there, as we'd get for them, and all I can say is "so? at least they'll be gone?" haha

Ticks are just awful. I HATE them, when we first moved to Texas, after a particularly nasty rain when it dried, they were ALL over the sidewalks and on the cement/sidewalk. by the THOUSANDS. Ugh.

Since we've had chickens loose in our yard though, I haven't seen a single tick on anything.... although my teenager had one in his ear not to long ago, but he goes down in the bushes where the chickens don't usually go.

Sorry about the chicken. Good luck with the goats!
