EDUCATIONAL INCUBATION & HATCHING CHAT THREAD, w/ Sally Sunshine Shipped Eggs

I have 120 acres! I'm a good cook!

120 acres? Yah, full of gators and x- large skeeters..... Good cook? Now you're getting somewhere!

Nobody's seen a gator here in 10 years. ;) We can build you a nice cabin on 10 acres and no one would even know you're there! I keep reading that the scovies are excellent skeeto eaters. So problems solved!

Yuuuuuuup...
Thanks to Fisherlady's husband Radioman, my bathroom sink is fixed. This morning I actually got to wash my hands comfortanbly, rather than having to wash them in cold water. Granted, I have either gotten used to cold hands, or God has kept the water from getting too cold. Maybe both.
Ya know what is really annoying though? I have been dealing with this for about six months. It was like $7 for the part. It took less than five minutes to take the faucet apart, put in the new part, and get it back together. My heart dropped when I turned the water on at the shut off. The water began running out when it should have been off. But that was seemingly because I had not put the handle back on quite right. A little jiggle, and a twist of the screw, and it stopped leaking.

There are two morals. The first I can't say because it sounds bad. The second is that I need to stop worrying about venting to you guys! I might look the fool, but in this case, a problem was fixed!!

You have just defined my default home maintenance experience...

Go duckies!!!!

I'm back again! (OK, so I have grading to do, so who knows how long I'll be here, but still....)

Here are a few pretty pictures - this is Robert E Lee all grown up. He was supposed to be a Lavender Ameraucana - he turned out to be a Lavender Wheaten Ameraucana. I think he's just so handsome.

(In the second photo, my olive egger Arbequina is giving me the eye - she lays lovely eggs.)

Here is a nice shot of some of the eggs I'm getting from my laying group. Her egg is the olive green one.

Regarding hatching - if I hatch Naked Necks this spring (which I may do), I'm first going to need to figure out who's laying THESE freaktastic things. (They're even freakier in person) (Sigh).

None of them has been ill in their lives, so I'm betting on a shell gland defect (and not IB), but either way, she's not going to be a mommy. I have a sinking feeling it'll be one that I really had wanted to breed...

But, hey, good news - no poop in the nests tonight! (They must have heard my mumbled threat about chicken casserole...)
