How far inland are you? Are you in any danger of flooding? Do the real nasty winds get inland as far as you are?
Not sure how far inland we are; possibly a hundred miles. 40 miles west of Baltimore, plus the Chesapeake Bay, then the Eastern Shore before you hit the Atlantic.
We've had some goodies. Agnes did a lot of damage the year before we moved here; she was the worst. Mountains to the West protect us some, but anything from the north or east can get nasty...thanks, Bubbles.
We're pretty hilly here, but our particular land is downhill, at the bottom of a 600' lane, so we have the Colorado River eroding the gravel lane in a rainstorm. Spent many an hour on the business end of what our son calls a "Suckifier" (shop vac), trying to keep ahead of the water in the basement, 'til we could afford to get a new sump pump .

At least you guys are nice to me - now that i'm nearing 20 weeks, the comments of "are you starving the baby" and "I know your thin, so why aren't you showing" have officially started. ^.^

It can engulf all of Florida, too, and it's actually going to hit there.
Supposedly, Miami's already been evacuated. Nowhere to go, though; highways clogged with folks trying to "get out of Dodge" while they still can.

I know you have all seen this, I just found it interesting.

Of course, based on past experiences with the media and weather forecasters dire predictions of doom, we can probably cut the cone of influence in 3rds...

BTW Mike I think you need to tie a boat to the front porch...You know how wrong the weathermen are...:lau

BTW I am kind of happy to be rid of my home on the gulf in Florida about now...
I'm building an ark. If we don't need it to get out of here, I'll put nest boxes in it.
